چکیده

Introduction: Secondary hyperparathyroidism due to vitamin D deficiency (VDD) is thought play a role in glucose homeostasis. The aim of this study was determine the association parathormone and with prediabetes its different cardiovascular risk factors. Methods: This crosssectional conducted among 117 adults newly detected prediabetes. Participants were recruited consecutively from Department Endocrinology, BSMMU measure serum 25- hydroxyvitamin by high performance liquid chromatography, intact (iPTH) chemiluminescent enzyme-labeled immunometric assay; fasting insulin microparticle immunoassay oxidase method calculate homeostasis model assessment resistance (HOMA-IR). Results: Patients had significantly higher percentages VDD than those normal parathyroid status. Only impaired tolerance (IGT) status significant combined iPTH groups. Serum correlated age, HbA1C, HOMA-IR. Hyperparathyroidism predictive only IGT hypovitaminosis Conclusion: PTH may be associated glycemic dysregulation especially without any associations Bangladesh J Medicine 2022; 33: 154-160

O-8: Some Variations of the TSSK2 Gene May be Associated with Impaired Spermatogenesis

Background: Tssk2, a member of the testis specific serine/threonine kinase (TSSK) family, is expressed predominantly in the testis and crucial for the formation and function of the sperm cells in mouse. Targeted deletion of Tssk1 and 2 in male chimeric mice caused infertility due to haploinsufficiency of the genes. Therefore it is reasonable to postulate that mutations in its human homologue TS...

Is there any difference between Vitamin D deficiency among heart failure and Non-heart failure elderly with cardiovascular disease?

Vitamin D deficiency is common among the elderly with and without heart failure (HF). This study was designed to identify the degree of vitamin D deficiency among HF and Non- HF elderly with cardiovascular disease. In this study, fifty hospitalized elderly patients with HF (26 women and 24 men, age range 60-90 years) and fifty elderly without HF were randomly selected. The level of serum 25-hyd...

Impaired glucose tolerance, impaired fasting glucose and cardiovascular risk.

To the Editor: Tamita et al reported that abnormal glucose tolerance in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is a major risk factor for future cardiovascular events and might critically distinguish high-risk individuals.1 The cardiovascular event-free survival rate in the impaired glucose tolerance (IGT) group and the group with newly diagnosed diabetes were 73% and 67%, respectively...

Vitamin D Deficiency is Associated with the Metabolic Syndrome in Subjects with Type 2 Diabetes

Background and Objectives: There is convincing evidence that subjects concomitantly affected by type 2 diabetes (T2D) and metabolic syndrome (MeS) are at greater risk for cardiovascular disease (CVD). Many metabolic derangements in T2D might be attributed to poor vitamin D status. The purpose of this study was to investigate the associations among vitamin D status, MeS and glycemic status in su...

Vitamin D deficiency and secondary hyperparathyroidism in pediatrics obesity

Obesity is one of the health problems in the developing and developed countries. Obesity subjects the individuals with metabolic and endocrine disorders. It is obvious that vitamin D deficiency or insufficiency may lead to secondary hyperparathyroidism. Thus, obesity increases the risk of vitamin D deficiency. Considering the high prevalence of vitamin D deficiency in children and adolescents w...
